Karen Allen 01Though born in Illinois, Karen Allen spent her youth traveling the country with her family. She packed up and moved herself to New York after high school to study art and design at the Fashion School of Technology, and always having an itch to travel, followed graduation by globetrotting around the Western Hemisphere. This is where she discovered her passion for acting.

In the late 1970s, Karen settled back in New York to continue honing her craft, utilizing the wisdom of such renowned acting teachers as Stella Adler and Lee Strasberg to guide her. By 1978, she was cast as Katy in the wild comedy “Animal House,” which was an instant box office success and raised Karen’s exposure up a notch. But minor roles followed, including a bit part in Woody Allen’s “Manhattan” and William Friedkin’s Al Pacino gay crime drama “Cruising.

Then, in the spring of1980, Steven Spielberg (floundering after his “1941” misfire that reunited many “Animal House” faces) auditioned and cast Karen as the fiery ex of Indiana Jones in “Raiders of the Lost Ark.” Not only did the film go on to great successes, but Karen’s portrayal of Marion Ravenwood was one of the movie’s highlights and proved to be her crowning role.

As I walked up the red carpet, I vowed: ‘If this Oscar thing ever happens for me again, I’ll get a proper frock’.” Her chance would come sooner than she thought. Just four years later, Samantha would once again need to find an ensemble for the most highly-anticipated awards show of the year. But this time she’d be up for the big one best actress for In America.

Samantha Morton 02 .

Born on May 13, 1977, the daughter of a coal miner and a factory worker, Samantha was raised alongside eight siblings in a three-bedroom council house in a poor Nottingham neighbourhood. As a small child, however, an abusive family situation led to her being placed in foster care. “I was finally taken away from home when I went to school with bruises all over me and a bust lip,” she explains. Samantha Morton 03 The troubled youngster, who says she felt like “an unwanted parcel”, cut loose at the age of 13. Dropping out of school she began to attend Central TV junior workshops. “For the first time in my life I was taken seriously,” she says. “I was told I had talent. I was encouraged and it saved me.” Samantha Morton 04 .Samantha Morton 05. Samantha Morton 06 .Samantha Morton 07. Samantha Morton 08

Cosma Shiva Hagen 00
Cosma Shiva Hagen (born 17 May 1981 in Los Angeles, California) is a German actress and the daughter of New Wave/punk singer Nina Hagen and the late musician Ferdinand Karmelk. Her grandmother is the actress Eva-Maria Hagen, and her step-grandfather is the East German dissident writer Wolf Biermann. While Eva-Maria Hagen was allowed to emigrate to West Germany during the 1970s, Wolf Biermann was forced to emigrate. Cosma Shiva’s unusual name was picked by her eccentric mother, who saw a UFO while pregnant with her. “Cosma” is a reference to Cosmos, and “Shiva” is a reference to the Hindu god Shiva.

Cosma Shiva Hagen 01Unlike her world-famous mother, Cosma Shiva is largely unknown outside of German speaking countries. Although she speaks English, her acting roles have been largely confined to German language films and television productions. She also starred in an Irish film called Short Order (2005).

Blessed with her mother’s full lips and a curvacious 1950’s bombshell physique, Cosma Shiva has appeared in a pictorial in the German edition of Playboy in addition to nude scenes in some films.

Cosma Shiva Hagen 02As a child, Cosma Shiva lived in London, Berlin, Paris, Ibiza, a boarding school in Lüneburg and her current home, Hamburg. Having grown up the child of celebrities, Nina Hagen wanted to shield her daughter from the pressures of being the child of a celebrity. Consequently, throughout most of her childhood, Cosma Shiva’s classmates did not know that her mother was Nina Hagen. Born in Los Angeles, California, Cosma Shiva considers both German and English to be her native languages. She also knows French and Spanish as foreign languages and has the ability to mimic various dialects.

.

Cosma Shiva Hagen 03Cosma Shiva did not like school, did not finish high school and never formally studied acting. She enjoys horseback riding as a hobby. She is also a dedicated animal rights advocate.

With her role as a memorably over-caffeinated college freshman on television’s critically praised Undeclared, youthful actress Carla Gallo has endeared herself to former campus dorm-rats nationwide. And though her actual age may betray the naïve nature of those making the leap from the high school hallways to the college campus, Gallo has succeeded in making her television alter ego believable, in part by drawing on the vivid recollections of her college career.

.

.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, Gallo attended the LaGuardia School of Performing Arts before setting her sights on Cornell University. Like her television counterpart, Gallo dabbled in numerous potential careers before pursuing a career as an actress, though the lure of the theater was too magnetic to resist and the formerly undeclared student graduated a few short years later with a Theater Arts degree.

Being nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for her feature debut in 1994’s Spanking the Monkey proved to be a good start for the fledgling thespian, and though it would be five more years until her next feature role, Gallo would next appear in The 24-Hour Woman in 1999. With small-screen appearances in both E.R. and Law & Order priming her for her work on Undeclared, the actress approached the series on a positive note after hitting it off early on with series creator Judd Apatow. As someone who encouraged improvisation, Apatow often drew on Gallo’s previous college experiences to make the character more multidimensional and believable.

Thinking back to the frantic all-night cram sessions of her college days, Gallo recalled a session in which her synapses fired on overdrive due to an oversaturation of caffeine. Apatow encouraged her to expand on such recollections (recollections that often found their way into the show), which were a key factor in his aspiration to create a realistic portrayal of the college experience, warts and all.
